The Leader, "Green Heart of Africa" Initiative, will provide dynamic leadership to the WWF network in the development and implementation of this ambitious and high profile conservation initiative which will be implemented in the Congo Basin region over the next 10-15 years. S/he will direct the core team and orchestrate the human, technical and financial resources throughout the WWF network and beyond.

The key requirements are:

· Advanced degree or equivalent work experience in environmental, and/or relevant social, natural or political sciences;
· 8-10 years professional experience in a leadership role, with demonstrated success in managing multi-disciplinary teams and multiple donor budgets;
· At least 5 years experience in the Congo Basin region will be essential;
· Good understanding of COMIFAC plan de Convergence and the Yaoundé Declaration;
· Excellent leadership and project management skills with proven success in leading global virtual teams;
· Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and lobbying skills;
· Strong written and verbal communication skills;
· Excellent command of English and French.

The post will be based in the Congo Basin region.
